My Favorite Horse Photos I’ve Taken

No matter what phases I went through growing up, there were always two things that stuck with me: horses and photography. Over the years I’ve had the opportunity to photograph some truly beautiful horses.

Meet Sky!

Sky is a very old horse (almost 40) that lives her best life at small ranch in Nashville, Georgia. She is very loved, and cherished. She’s also one of the sweetest horses I’ve ever photographed.

I love this photo because I used to work at this ranch part time, and this photo was taken while I was slowly walking towards her with a bucket of grain. (Notice how attentive she looks? She’s easily motivated by food, as most horses are.)

The calm before the storm

Although these horses seem very calm, relaxed, and dare I say sleepy, don’t be fooled. These two amazing horses provided exceptional entertainment for our fellow Nashville Georgia citizens in a local rodeo. They are used for saddle bronc, (bucking horses.) This photo was taken just 30 minutes before the action started.

Truly amazing horses, as well as the individuals who ride them.

A little cowboy

This is one of those little moments that I love capturing. There’s something so sweet about seeing a young cowboy looking up at his horse with so much admiration. Moments like this remind me that a love for horses can start at such a young age. I love this photo because nothing seems forced. It’s a real raw moment that was captured at the perfect time.

Those are often some of my favorite photographs—the ones that happen naturally.
